Earlier this week, NJ’s Governor placed an order to close all state parks. To me, this is a bold move.
Here’s what the Governor said: “He also announced an order to close all state and county parks throughout New Jersey, adding that residents have been crowding the parks and disregarding social distancing guidelines.” (per CNBC.com)
I equate this to a school situation you probably remember from the last time you were in a classroom: the “bad” kid does something bad and everyone else gets punished because of it. Everyone suffers because of this behavior.
What I’m saying is this: there are people who still don’t “believe” in social-distancing and are meeting at parks and events and ruining these spots for the rest of us. Those that adhere to social distancing and are getting runs in and through parks are now forced to the streets - which, I mean, is better than being forced to not run, but it still sucks.
I’m asking that you be smart. I’m asking that you continue to get in shape, but obviously your health and the health of your family should be more important than running or working out or hanging out with friends.
Friday’s Action Plan:
Practice social-distancing. Still get out and run, exercise, do your thing. But please, stop meeting for group runs, stop thinking this isn’t real or won’t take you down.
