I try to save all of my reading and down time for the summer.
The school year is just so crazy and unpredictable that there isn’t any real time to focus on reading without lots of distractions.
But the summer? The summer is a great time for me to sit back and catch up on all the books I’ve wanted to read, but never had the time to.
In today’s post, I’m going to share the books (hard copy and audio books) that I’m really digging. Maybe one will spark your interest and maybe you’ll want to share one of your best picks for me, too!
The Books I’ve Read:
Alisha Fernandez Miranda- My What If Year: This was such a great book and kicked off my summer. It’s a memoir about the author’s year spent interning around the globe after being a successful CEO in a non-profit. The backdrop was that she needed a change + her struggles with finding her footing in an ever-changing “this needs to be done now” way of life.
5 out of 5. Get it at the Cherry Hill library.
Oksana Masters - The Hard Parts: Another memoir I just finished and dang, this one was powerful. A story about an orphaned Ukrainian girl adopted by a woman from Buffalo. It chronicles her struggles as an amputee and her triumphs on the world stage.
5 out of 5. Get it at the Cherry Hill library.
Books I’m Almost Done With:
Steve Magness - Do Hard Things: “A radical rethinking of how we perceive toughness and what it means to achieve our high ambitions in the face of hard things.”
3.5 out of 5. Amazon
Dean Karnazez - A great story about Dean’s ultramarathon journey from hotshot to also ran.
4 out of 5. Amazon
Books I’m About to Start:
Dan Martell - Buy Back Your Time: “Conquer the biggest hurdle to scaling your company and growing rich: time.”
Cherry Hill Library
Emmanuel Acho - Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man: “The only way to cure our nation’s oldest disease - racism - starts with a profound, revolutionary idea: actually talking to one another.”
Amazon
Audiobooks I’m Listening to:
Lauren Fleshman - Good for a Girl:
While I wish I could zip through this much faster (Carly and I are listening together), it is still a fantastic listen. Lauren lays it all out there and really doesn’t hold anything back. Sure, it has a lot to do with female athletes (runners in particular) it is still a great read/listen for even the most casual of runners.
5 out of 5. Audible.
Oliver Burkeman - 4000 Weeks
On the recommendation from my dad, I’m digging into this book. It’s scary to think that an average lifetime is only 4,000 weeks long. This book is helping me put things in perspective - focusing on what matters and spending the time doing what matters.
3.5 out of 5. Hoopla

It sounds crazy to have all of these books circling around in my brain and I know that books can be very inspiring.
So if you have a book suggestion for me - audio or hard copy - let me know! Leave a comment so others can see your choices too. I’m really into memoirs and biographies right now, so that would be a bonus.
