Small Victories
I have not had many victories of any kind over the last few months, but recently my sedentary wheels are turning. I’m extremely thankful for PT and acupuncture working together to get my calf strong enough for some pain-free running.
I’m hopeful that I can rejoin the Dad Run Club for some Thursday morning miles in the near future!
Penn Relays
The Penn Relays are this week - they started on Thursday and continue through Saturday evening. Typically, Penn is MY weekend. I have always gone and supported my athletes, or at the very least, Cherokee, Cinnaminson, and Villanova.
Hearing the “Let’s Go Nova!” chants makes me extremely proud to be an alum and also gives me goosebumps just thinking about the history behind our storied program.
While I was never in the right fitness to ever run a relay for Villanova at Penn, I did run two lifetime PRs in the 5k at distance night.
Team Gets Bigger
I’m extremely excited to welcome some new runners to the team. I’ve found that if I am honest and open about how I coach and why I coach that it would resonate with more people. While online coaching isn’t my full-time job, I try to treat every runner I work with like it is.
If you know of someone who needs to up their run game, send my information to them, and we can see if we’re a good fit.
Track Meets Are Life
For the better part of 25 years, track and field has been my spring. Spring has been track and field. I’ve been a track runner or a track coach for basically every year since 1999. Track has been my world.
It’s an unfamiliar spot for me to be in, but I would love to invite you to a track meet. If you’ve never been, you should attend a “distance night” or a championship meet where the caliber of athletes is high and the track meet has some energy.
Broad Street
The greatest 10 miler down Broad Street is fast approaching, and while many of the tri-state area will be racing down Broad, I urge you, if you are running, to make plans for arrival and departure well before race day. And while you’re at it, glance at your weather app to see what you should pack before, during, and after the race.
It’s too long a race to be uncomfortable because you chose the wrong shoes or gear, and not long enough that you can’t make some adjustments in the lead up to the race.
If you’re looking for more guidance on racing, training structure, or motivation, I’ve got you covered. Sign up for a coaching plan or in-person session today. Let’s make this your best season ever.
