Hello everyone!
On my blog this week, I wrote about the 6 tips I think are the most important for any runner to implement inside their overall training program.
I’m the first to admit that I do NOT do all of these in a given week. Hell, in a month even. But finding balance is the name of the game. The more mileage and stress we put on our bodies, the more we need to pamper ourselves.
As distance runners, we’re all programmed to hit x number of miles each week for us to think we’re being successful. I’m here to tell you that, yes, mileage does matter. But it really doesn’t matter as much as you think.
If you are able to run 30 healthy miles per week AND you’re healthy, happy, well-rounded, and enjoying running, isn’t that more important than squeaking in 10 more miles and being run down, miserable and resenting running?
Ask me and I’ll tell you I’d take a healthy and happy runner over a miserable one any day of the week.
So, what can you do with this knowledge? Slow down. Enjoy a massage, a cross train day, 10 minutes of stretching or even putting your legs up the wall. Those 10 minutes will make such a difference!
