We’ve waited a really long time for this.
5 very long years ago, we witnessed some supreme track and field athletes at the Rio Games and now we’re finally descending upon the Tokyo Games.
As soon as I finish writing this I will be purchasing a Peacock+ monthly subscription just so I can watch ALL of the action. If all goes well, the week I spend off from running will fall very nicely into the week of track and field I watch from my comfy couch.
Usually, but not always, the favorites are favorites for a reason and they tend to do well in the Olympics. This year, mental health is by far one of the big storylines (outside of the obvious, Covid) and I am very interested to read more about the mental health of athletes: how best to cope, does anything trigger these episodes, and what can I do as a coach to help athletes who are struggling with mental health.
Top events I’m looking forward to:
I am excited for the women’s 800 for sure. Then after that, I’m excited for the men’s 5k & 10k. I’m not going to lie though, there really isn’t an event I’m not looking forward to watching. So really, I will see all of you in a week’s time where I’ll run down and recap some of my favorite events.
Friday’s Action Plan:

It was being a runner that mattered, not how fast or how far I could run. The joy was in the act of running and in the journey, not in the destination. -John Bingham
