In my review of the Bob & Brad Air 2 Massage Gun and the LifePro Sonic LX Pro Massage Gun, just know that I was given both of these products.
With that out of the way, I feel very lucky to be writing about two really useful tools to help runners get healthy.
Muscles that are fluid, loose, and have a full range of motion are muscles that can work harder and longer. So yeah, of course, a massage gun is going to help that happen.
When I’m training, and I haven’t been recently due to injury, I like to massage at night when I’m reading or watching TV. I typically get 5-10 minutes worth of massaging about 3-4x a week where I’m hitting the major muscle groups: calves, quads, hamstring, glute, IT band, and shoulders.
First, I’ll talk about the Bob & Brad massage gun.
Weight
This small, but mighty tool is packed away in my gym bag because it is so dang small, yet so darn useful. At only 1.8 pounds, this massage gun is remarkably lightweight, which makes it easy to handle and use for extended periods without causing any fatigue.
Power
The gun charges up in 3 hours using USB-c and lasts forever (I haven’t recharged mine yet).
While I’d love for this gun to be a tiny bit more powerful, it’s great for its size. I love me some strong-ass reverberations and this one gets close but doesn’t quite get those deep, deep spots.
Sound
What sound? I don’t hear it.
I’m sure my nighttime tea-slurping and potato chip crunching sounds are annoying to my wife, but she doesn’t even notice when I’m using this. Maybe I should start using it on her too? Discussions for another day, I suppose.
Overall, the Bob & Brad Air 2 Massage Gun is an excellent product that offers remarkable features, weight, power, and speed. It's a great investment for anyone who wants to improve their muscle health and recover quickly after a workout or other strenuous activity.
And now about the LifePro Massage Gun…
If you are looking for a heavy-duty, pound your legs into submission, then this is the jackhammer for you.
It is big and it is powerful. I appreciate the variety of heads, including one that gets hot, which not only heats your muscles but beats the crap outa them at the same dang time. In total, 10 different heads can get into every nook and cranny you can possibly imagine.
Weight
While LifePro’s specs call their gun “lightweight”, it’s definitely not compared to the Bob & Brad gun. Weighing in at 2.3 pounds doesn’t do it justice when you realize just how large it actually is.
That being said, it’s not like you’re lugging around a 10 lb dumbbell just to get some muscle relief.
Power
With 9 speeds, this horse has some giddyup. From tickle to torture, this massage gun gets going quickly. I hover around the 4-6 range; I don’t think I’ve ever touched 8 or 9 even though I like it deep.
Sound
When you’re dealing with something as big and sturdy as the LifePro massage gun, of course, there is going to be some sound. Usually, though, it’s the oohs and ahh’s that muffle out the sound of the hum of the vibrations.

When you boil it down, size doesn’t matter, right?
But really, I’m happy with both and so are my muscles. Whether it’s LifePro or Bob & Brad, I’m getting in a good recovery and that’s really what matters.
