In a week where I popped a really good track workout, I’m sharing some end of summer tips for you! If you find something useful, give this post a like!
6 Strategies to Improve Your Rate of Success with Running
1. Start slow
2. Learn as much as you can from those who are accredited
3. Be a realist about you goals
4. But also an optimist
5. Make small changes. Keep what’s working and get rid of what isn’t
6. And be ok with the “process” taking a long time
Running isn’t easy - and if someone ever told you it was, they were lying to you.
Why You Should Warm Up Before Your Race
You can preview the end of the course and figure out where you’ll start your sprint
You can run so much better with warm muscles compared to cold ones
Warming up prior to running a race helps you set your intentions for the race
Tips for a Good Summer Tempo Run
Focus on running by feel instead of pace
Dial in to your pace and, if needed, break it up into chunks [30 min tempo might be 6 x 5 minutes]
Adjust your effort for hills, elevation, heat and/or humidity
Strength Training Is Your Friend
Short doses of full body strength training will keep you fresh, but strong
Focus on major muscles groups: hamstrings, calves, quads, core and arms
Work on your weaker spots so they don’t hold you back
Do you have questions or want to talk about your training? Send me a message. Seriously. You can send me the most basic question, like “What shoes do I train in right now?” No question is too small.
