Adrenaline 5k Weekend
Has to Be a Top 4 Race Weekend For Me
As I write this, we are 40-something hours away from the Adrenaline 5k run. For most people, that fact means absolutely nothing to them.
But for me, this race is special. It’s a sort of homecoming for the Burlington & Camden County runners.
And while it brings out the fastest and best runners in the area, it also holds very fond memories for me. This race - perfectly fitting between indoor track and spring track - is most likely my very first 5k road race - and possibly first “real” race ever.
📌 Before we continue - If you found this post helpful, would you please consider restacking it and sharing it with your audience?
This spreads the word and keeps me writing content that will help you grow as a runner. 🙏
I tried looking up results for this particular race, but couldn’t find any results for 1999. I’m sure if I asked, Reuban Frank or Coach Shak would have them as they are both stat nerds!
But then this race also holds a special place for me as it’s where my road 5k PR is from, back in 2009.
And then there’s the race in 2011, where, later that evening, I met my now-wife at the “after party”.
So yes, this race is quite the special one for me.
What’s more, in the last few years, I’ve been dinged up or completely hurt and haven’t been able to race.
This year was almost a carbon copy of the last two years with calf issues, but it appears I am full speed ahead.
To those who are racing, good luck!
Don’t forget to check out our new venture, the South Jersey Distance Project. Our USATF club team is racing and has lots of team members competing.
What I’m Reading
This might be behind a paywall now, but the NY Times wrote a piece on how brutal our winter was and why Mother Nature played some cruel tricks on her distance runners.
We didn’t have the winter we would have liked, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have the spring and summer we want to have.

What I’m Watching
Saw a video on TikTok about being on time. If you ask anyone, myself included, I’m always late. My goal moving forward will be to be more aware of being late and make progress toward being more on time.
