It’s been SO long since I last suited up for a race!
This weekend, I’ll be toeing a start line for a “pop-up” mile race. It’s going to be really low key - maybe just me and Sam, who I coach, lining up 1,609 meters away from the finish line.
I haven’t raced yet in 2021 and in 2020, I last raced in November where I ran a 5k cross country race. So yeah, it has been some time!
Since then, I’ve done a lot of running and put in the work that I think should result in a favorable outcome. But until I actually do it, we won’t really know.
Here are the results from my last 2 workouts:
3/24: 10 x 400 @ T [92, 98, 94, 89, 93, 94, 88, 87, 94, 84.w/ :20 sec rest, 3 min jog, 4 x 75m [5:15 pace, 4:56, 5:02
3:19: 10 x 400 @ 5k race pace w/ 65 seconds rest... Goal splits 84 Splits: 83, 79, 81 ,76, 77, 74, 76, 75, 81, 79
You be the judge - what do you think I can run?
Here’s where you all come in. I have a connection with a publisher who sends me running-related books. This time I have the book Running in the Midpack to give away. I have 3 copies that I can give away and they’ll go to the 3 people who get the closest to my mile time. If you nail my time to the nearest tenth, I’ll ship out the first book they sent me Out of Thin Air.
How do you win a copy? Reply on social media to today’s post or reply to this email with what you think my time will be. I’ll announce the winner by Saturday night.
Friday’s Action Plan:
Instead of always working out at the same place (track, trail, familiar loop), try switching it up to get comfortable being uncomfortable.
